Okay, the story behind this one. I work at a sit down restaurant that also has a drive thru. We make the food as it’s being ordered, nothing is ever made before hand, and with that being the case it usually means people are sitting in the window for a few minutes waiting for their food. I rarely am there to deliver the food once I’ve cashed them out. Tonight, a man came through and as I gave him his total he handed me a 20 and complained about how much his order cost him. I gave him his change and told him it would take a few minutes for everything to come out and left to take care of my tables (I am also a server). My coworker went to hand him his food and he told her he’d given me a 50 and I short changed him. I knew for a fact I hadn’t- the 20 he gave me was the only one in the drawer. My coworker calls out the manager to take care of the problem, and he first asks me if I’m sure I was given a 20 and then proceeds to tell the men he would need to count down the drawer to see if there was 30 extra dollars we should not have. The men got shitty with him and insisted they’d given me a 50, and when he refused to hand over the money they just drove off. Not only did the fiasco ruin our drive times for the rest of the night, but I do not take kindly to having my credibility called in to question. Submission from because-wewantto.tumblr.com

And this is why I left my last job.

And this is why I left my last job.

This man seriously indulged me to a 5 minute rant on why I was not getting tipped, not only infuriating me, but also holding me up from my other tables, which probably affected their tip decisions, too.

Seriously, I don’t know who is raising kids today but the worst part about the weekends is the constant flow of teenagers who don’t seem to realize waitresses don’t actually make any money unless you tip them. Don’t make me wait on your ten friends for three hours and not leave a decent tip.Submitted by because-wewantto.tumblr.com

The person who says food service people can be stupid - do they understand that it's probably a case of getting the wrong burger, and that their burger was made correctly - but the cashier picked the wrong one up from the line? And that no matter how few customers there are, food doesn't cook any faster? It wouldn't hurt to take a minute to consider alternate reasons as to why something went wrong than the cashier's supposed stupidity.

This happened to me the other day.  I was not the one who said it, but had it said to me.  I went to pick up lunch and the woman at the window said this.  My guess is she normally works the evening shift.submitted by ask-dook-and-crew.tumblr.com

i understand that customers can be extremely fucking stupid (like my dad sometimes) but you guys can have your stupids too. for instance, at least once a month when we go to McDonald's, our order is fucked up. like, when we say no lettuce or extra pickles, we get extra mayo and no ketchup. at burger king, even when we are the only two customers there, it takes half an hour to get our food when at least nine employees are there, none on break, and yet all acting it.
