We serve free kids-size cups of water/ice where I work, and almost every time someone asks, we’re met with a complaint about the size. Look, I’m sorry, but it’s free. Don’t bitch at me. If you’re in desperate need of liquid I’m sure you can find three fucking quarters to get yourself a large. I don’t care about your opinion on the matter. I can’t give you a free route 44 water. Go home and make yourself a glass. Jeez.

My store is 24 hours, so it’s a popular place to be late and night and on the weekends. The problem is, the customers are usually regulars and previous servers would find ways to sneak free things and discount things for their favorite customers. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times my tables haven’t tipped me because I didn’t give them free drinks or free chili or ring up their frisco melts the “cheap” way. Hey, it’s not my fault the management is FINALLY starting to look at our food cost and I’m not putting my ass on the line for some punk kid who can’t afford to eat our cheap ass food to begin with.
Just redid the theme and the template!

das-nashorn-deactivated20130206 asked: Seriously this is the best thing ever. I've worked at a restaurant for almost 4 years now and have served for 2. What a freaking nightmare customers are... Thanks for the awesome blog! :)
I’ve always been in or had friends who are in, and it is honestly one of the worst jobs to have. Congrats on making it so long!

Okay, the story behind this one. I work at a sit down restaurant that also has a drive thru. We make the food as it’s being ordered, nothing is ever made before hand, and with that being the case it usually means people are sitting in the window for a few minutes waiting for their food. I rarely am there to deliver the food once I’ve cashed them out. Tonight, a man came through and as I gave him his total he handed me a 20 and complained about how much his order cost him. I gave him his change and told him it would take a few minutes for everything to come out and left to take care of my tables (I am also a server). My coworker went to hand him his food and he told her he’d given me a 50 and I short changed him. I knew for a fact I hadn’t- the 20 he gave me was the only one in the drawer. My coworker calls out the manager to take care of the problem, and he first asks me if I’m sure I was given a 20 and then proceeds to tell the men he would need to count down the drawer to see if there was 30 extra dollars we should not have. The men got shitty with him and insisted they’d given me a 50, and when he refused to hand over the money they just drove off. Not only did the fiasco ruin our drive times for the rest of the night, but I do not take kindly to having my credibility called in to question.

And this is why I left my last job.
This man seriously indulged me to a 5 minute rant on why I was not getting tipped, not only infuriating me, but also holding me up from my other tables, which probably affected their tip decisions, too.
